The Claude Lemand Gallery was founded in October 1988, with an international outlook on artists from around the world who have made Paris their home, a place of creative expression, and a hub of international influence. Claude Lemand was one of the first gallerists and collectors to champion modern and contemporary European artists from the Arab world and its diasporas, through the organization of solo and group exhibitions, the publication of catalogues, monographs and artists’ books, and the production of graphic works, photographs and sculptures, without ever seeking any subsidies.

In October 2008, to mark the 20th anniversary of his gallery, Claude Lemand opened a second space (70 avenue Jean Moulin, Paris 14), dedicated to showcasing major works by his artists and preparing retrospectives and large-scale thematic exhibitions, which the gallery organizes in France and abroad. In June 2018, Claude and France Lemand donated 1,300 works of art to the Arab World Institute Museum in Paris, participated in organizing temporary exhibitions, and continued to expand their collection, which now numbers nearly 2,000 works. In March 2020, Claude Lemand closed his first gallery and organized exhibitions of his artists, spanning three generations, in his new gallery or in partner museums, both in France and internationally. The Galerie Claude Lemand represents the Shafic Abboud Estate and the Abdallah Benanteur Estate.
