GUILLERMO FORCHINO
THE MELTING OF THE ICE
Presented by CAPIM d’ORO
You think you know Guillermo Forchino. But do you really know his work? Known for his humorous characters, the Argentine artist has spent forty years developing a more engaged body of work that has, until now, remained largely in the shadows. Through biting irony and profound humanity, these works question our society and its contradictions.
Presented at Moderne Art Fair 2026 by CAPIM d’ORO, La Fonte des glaces (2025) by Guillermo Forchino, from the private collection of François-Henri Bennahmias, is part of the Argentine sculptor’s distinctive universe, where humour, irony and a critical perspective on society converge.
This presentation echoes Noi, i grotteschi (“We, the Grotesques”), a retrospective born from the encounter between the artist and François-Henri Bennahmias, collector and patron. Having discovered Forchino’s work at an art fair in Switzerland, Bennahmias was captivated by its freedom of expression and the depth of its message. A visit to the artist’s Paris studio revealed the full scope of a body of work developed over more than forty years, exploring both human vulnerabilities and contemporary environmental issues. Through expressive characters and situations that oscillate between comedy and tragedy, Guillermo Forchino has developed a profoundly human sculptural language that questions our behaviour, our contradictions and our relationship with the world.
With La Fonte des glaces, the artist offers a perspective that is both sensitive and critical on environmental upheaval, inviting viewers to reflect on the fragilities of our time.
