JOSÉE NADEAU – 100 YEARS MONET | 2026

EXHIBITION
REFLECTIONS OF GIVERNY
A monumental tribute to Claude Monet

To mark the centenary of Claude Monet’s death, Canadian artist Josée Nadeau takes over Place de la Concorde with a monumental installation created in collaboration with HP and Moderne Art Fair. Presented during one of the most significant weeks on the international art calendar, this ambitious work stands as one of the largest outdoor art installations by a single artist during Paris Art Week.

Spanning nearly 60 metres, Reflets de Giverny brings an extraordinary scale to one of the artist’s original paintings, enlarged and reproduced ten times on panels measuring 3 metres high and 6 metres wide. This monumental transformation has been made possible by HP’s innovative printing technology, bringing the artist’s original vision to life on an exceptional scale. Installed directly on the exterior façade of one of Moderne Art Fair’s pavilions, facing the historic fountains of Place de la Concorde and the iconic Obelisk, the monumental work creates the illusion of an immense water lily pond. Set against the prestigious backdrop of the Champs-Élysées, it transforms the pavilion into a spectacular landscape of colour, light and reflections, welcoming international collectors and visitors to the fair.

An artist with an international career, Josée Nadeau has developed a distinctive body of work deeply connected to light, colour and nature. Her paintings have earned the admiration of prominent figures in the art world, including Hubert de Givenchy, the legendary French fashion designer and master of haute couture, who expressed his admiration for her work with the words:

“Josée Nadeau’s paintings breathe freshness.” — Hubert de Givenchy. Her work also captivated renowned actor and art collector Pierce Brosnan, who, upon discovering her paintings, exclaimed: “I want them all.” — Pierce Brosnan.

Her history with Giverny reflects a privileged connection to the world of Claude Monet. Invited by Gérald Van der Kemp, former curator of the Palace of Versailles and a leading figure in the restoration and revival of Monet’s house and gardens, and his wife Florence, Josée Nadeau spent nearly ten years painting in the artist’s celebrated gardens. She en joyed privileged access to the gardens, as well as the freedom to use the curator’s private studio, which was made available to her for her artistic work.

“It was an extraordinary privilege to have access to Claude Monet’s gardens and the opportunity to paint there for so many years. Above all, I remain deeply grateful to Gérald and Florence Van der Kemp, whose remarkable contributions to the arts and the preservation of our artistic heritage must never be forgotten.” — Josée Nadeau

Through the changing seasons, this privileged experience allowed her to observe the variations of light and the interplay of reflections that had so profoundly inspired Monet, enriching her own artistic language. Her paintings reveal a personal interpretation of nature, shaped by an intimate knowledge of the gardens and their atmosphere, while asserting an artistic identity entirely independent of that of the Impressionist master.

A selection of Josée Nadeau’s original paintings is also presented by Jupiter Gallery (Pavilion 2, Stand 206B), where visitors will have the opportunity to meet the artist and discover her artistic world.

Just steps away from Monet’s celebrated Water Lilies, housed at the Musée de l’Orangerie, Reflets de Giverny creates a dialogue between Impressionism and contemporary art, offering a personal tribute to one of the most influential figures in art history.

Presented as part of the 2026 edition of Moderne Art Fair, which brings together more than fifty modern and contemporary art galleries, Reflets de Giverny is a monumental installation at the intersection of painting, innovative printing technologies and Paris’s historic architecture. A century after Claude Monet’s death, it celebrates the enduring modernity of his work and the vitality of contemporary artistic creation.

“At HP, we believe technology should empower people to do their best work. That is the essence of our For your best work promise. Partnering with Josée Nadeau on Reflets de Giverny was an exciting opportunity to bring together art, innovation, and large-format printing technology. Our goal was to help transform the artist’s vision into a monumental experience while preserving the richness, color, and emotion of the original artwork. We are proud to support creative professionals in pushing the boundaries of what is possible and bringing their most ambitious pro jects to life.” Marion Amélineau, EMEA Marketing Segment Lead, HP

“We are particularly delighted to support Josée Nadeau in this tribute to Claude Monet. Her deeply personal way of capturing light and the beauty of nature truly moves us. With Reflets de Giverny, her painting takes on a monumental scale, inviting us into her poetic world for Parisians and visitors alike to en joy.”
