CURATION BEL OUVRAGE
The art of living, design
and exceptional craftsmanship

Curated by Carole de Bona

For its 2026 edition, Moderne Art Fair has entrusted the artistic design and exhibition layout of its Private Salon and the 222 A space to Bel Ouvrage Paris, under the direction of its founder, curator and collector Carole de Bona.

Dedicated to designer-led design, the arts and crafts, and exceptional craftsmanship, Bel Ouvrage fosters a dialogue between heritage and contemporary creation. Presented in Paris and Venice, this curatorial project champions a vision of design where mastery of technique, the excellence of materials and creative freedom come together. Through a discerning selection of rare pieces, original creations and contemporary designers, Carole de Bona explores the connections between art, design and the decorative arts, whilst celebrating the richness of craftsmanship and its capacity for reinvention.

For, Moderne Art Fair, she has devised an exceptional exhibition design, conceived as a lived-in interior, where the artworks are not simply displayed but integrated into a genuine art of living. Designed as a contemporary collector’s lounge, the VIP Area offers an immersive, intimate and elegant experience. Collectors’ furniture, historic artworks, contemporary creations and objets d’art come together to form a refined ensemble, in which different eras, materials and disciplines interact naturally. Each piece contributes to an overall composition where proportions, textures, light and combinations of materials reveal an aesthetic that is both timeless and resolutely contemporary.

At the heart of this exhibition, a tapestry by Paul Poiret for the Atelier Martine – first shown at the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts and exceptionally on loan from the Galerie Jean-François Cazeau – engages in a dialogue with a fragment of Pierre Sabatier’s fresco Cosmos, created in 1967 for the Aquitaine Tower.

These heritage works form the cornerstones of a curatorial concept that brings together the leading figures of the decorative arts with the most contemporary expressions of collectable design.
